LADY WANDA'S ENCOURAGEMENT

STANDING ON GOD’S PROMISES

Scripture Reference:  Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.

Naturally, we make promises all the time.  We make promises to our children, promises to our families, promises at work, promises to our spouses.  Most of the time, we have good intentions and plan to keep the promises we made.  Sometimes, we fail to keep the promise because of many different reasons.  There are even times when we make a promise to God and we don’t keep it.  Deuteronomy 23:21 says If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not be slow to pay it, for the Lord your God will certainly demand it of you and you will be guilty of sin.  When someone makes a promise to you and they don’t keep it, how does that make you feel?

Imagine a married couple who is seeking divorce, they are not just breaking a promise that they made to each other, they are breaking a promise they made to God.  As humans, in our imperfections, we are not capable of keeping every promise.  But God!  God is the ultimate promise keeper.  The bible records many promises from God.  There was no way for me to list all of them here.  What I do want you to know is that in 2 Corinthians 1:20 it says For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.  We can rest in God and stand on His promises knowing that His promises are always kept.  That is why it is so important when we are in need of an answer or help, we should open the word of God and let Him minister to our situations.  I will say that in most of the promises of God, there is His part and then our part.  Just take a look at our referenced scripture in Exodus 14:14. It says that the Lord will do something (fight), then it says we need only be still.  So, when we do our part, His part is assured.

It is my pleasure to encourage you today to spend time in God’s word and get some of the promises in your heart so that when problems come and we all know they will, that we will know where to go to find our peace and comfort.

Let’s Pray!

Dear Lord, thank You for Your promises.  Help us to be obedient by doing our part so that we can bask in the glory of Your part.  We praise You in advance because we know we can be assured that You will come through and we will be eternally grateful.  In Jesus’ Name we pray.  Amen.
