LADY WANDA'S ENCOURAGEMENT

Be Ready for Every Good Work

Scripture Reference:  Titus 3:8.  The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.

In my studying, I came across this passage of scripture in Titus.  Titus was trained by Paul and left on the Island of Crete to lead the churches there.  In this letter to Titus, Paul instructs Titus on how to be a good leader and teach different kinds of people to lead godly lives.  So, the third chapter opens up by telling Titus to remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.  Paul goes on reminding Titus that at one time, they were too foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures.   He says, we lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.  (Titus 3:1-3 paraphrased).  As believers, we can attest that this was once who we were.  We all have a past, but praise God we don’t have to stay there!  Here is the good part!  Verses 4-7 says “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by this grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.”  When we allowed Jesus into our hearts, He saved us.  We did not, nor do we have to work for it.  He saves us freely if we accept Him.

This brings us to our referenced scripture above (Titus 3:8).  It says the above scripture is trustworthy.  Paul tells Titus, to stress these things so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.  These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.  So, once we allow Jesus in our hearts, we will want to do good deeds, we will want to show that same kindness and love that was shown to us from the Father.  We will want others to have the peace and joy that is found in Jesus Christ, so we will cheerfully share His Word with others, and they can look forward to eternal life with us.  That, my friends, is the “good work” that we need to be ready to accomplish.

Let’s Pray!

Father, we thank you for your love and kindness that You continue to show us daily.  Help us to find ways to share Your Word with others in order to build up your Kingdom.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
