LADY WANDA'S ENCOURAGEMENT
Are Your Motives Pure?
Scripture Reference: But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.” Jeremiah 17:10
Politicians normally try to speak what their constituents want to hear. They build their platforms around what they believe others want, not what they necessarily believe in or stand behind. Their motives are normally about what will provide them the most votes versus what is going to be best for everyone, even if it isn’t popular. As Christians, we find ourselves having to take a stand that is unpopular. We know our motives must be pure and just, following after God’s own heart just like King David.
Jeremiah 17:5-10 says: This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit. “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards according to what their actions deserve.” As Christians, we must be true to ourselves and line up with the word of God. We must trust God with our whole being. The bible says in Proverbs 20:27 The Lord’s light penetrates the human spirit,[a]exposing every hidden motive. If we are pretending or speaking falsely, the Lord will know. God examines our heart, because He knows that we can speak words from our mouths without meaning any of it. Have you ever said, “I am sorry”, but didn’t really mean it? Well, you are not the only one, and when we are talking to each other, we can do that, because we are not able to see what is in each other’s heart. Honesty is everything. I want to be like the trees planted by the river who don’t have any worries about heat or rain. If this is what you want, put your trust in the Lord and let Him direct your path and your speech. Let’s have our motives line up with God’s motives and let them be real, not pretend. God will always know the difference.
